Question / Help Streaming Smite - Fullscreen?

I'm new to broadcasting software... So excuse my question.

I'm looking to stream Smite fullscreen.

I've read you need to "select Game Capture' source in OBS"

I've tried to google where to find it, but nothing comes up.

Is it Plugins > "Game Capture Plugin" ?

Any other suggestions for streaming Smite that others have found useful?

Ah, you're new? Then I apologize for the confusion - this is a design flaw with OBS that new users get confused about. You need to actually right click the "sources" box in the main window to add game capture to a scene.

Ok, so setting source > add > game capture

Is all I need to capture the full screen of my game? 1920x1080p?

If you want to record at 1920x1080 that's a different story, that requires a beefy computer. I would recommend some downscaling (in video settings) to reduce potential lag caused by encoding.

Yeah, sorry I should have been more specific.
My monitor is 1920x1080p, but I have it downscaled to 720P.

As long as I've added it as a "Game Capture" source, that should capture my entire game screen for TwitchTV?

Is it better to run the 32bit or 64bit version of OBS?

If you have a 64bit system and aren't using devices that only have 32bit drivers, then 64bit OBS should be fine. They are almost exactly the same in terms of performance.

Ok, so I ran into a few problems streaming for the first time tonight.

Help would be much appreciated..

I was testing the stream with a friend. (Smite)

1.) He said the stream was fine - it didn't lag, but playing the game was laggy every now and then. I have a quite capable computer.

-Windows 7
-Intel Core i7-4770 @3.40 GHz
-16 GB RAM
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 770

Not sure if that's because of the Encoding > Max Bitrate > Buffer Size settings.

Using testmy.net I uploaded a 33MB file and this was my result - 2.6 MBPS (320)kB/s. I'm streaming in 720P

**Video Encoding Settings**
CBR/CBR padding/Custom Buffer Size checked
Quality Balance 10
Max Bitrate 1800/Buffer Size 2000

***Audio Encoding Settings**
AAC/128/44.1khz stereo

2.) My voice would echo - Under the webcam source > Right Click > Properties > "Audio Input Device" is set to Disable and the audio is all the way down anyhow. So I'm not sure what could be causing this echo effect of my voice.

3.) He also said the loudness of my voice in-game was fine, but the in-game audio wasn't that good. He couldn't hear the game music and could barely hear the game sound effects, yet the speaker icon on the main screen of OBS is up all the way, and I can clearly hear the audio through my Sennheiser PC363D headset.

4.) This is what I don't get. So... I have "start streaming" selected in OBS. I can see the game, etc etc.
But I also need to have the game playing from the TwitchTV dashboard?

Oh yeah, one other thing I forgot. I used the OBS log analyzer - And this came up -

"Monitor capture detected
One of your scenes appears to be using monitor capture. Monitor capture is the slowest and least efficient method of capturing, and can cause FPS lag on both your stream and your game. Consider using game capture or window capture instead (this does not apply to Windows 8)."

Should I instead use "Window Capture" for my desktop? Because I was using monitor capture to show my desktop but the log analyzer is saying that's not a good idea.

If you get echo, it's either a configuration issue, or you're watching your own stream and the stream is playing back the sound of your stream and thus echos (such as having your dashboard page open while streaming). You can boost desktop or mic audio further past its limit in audio settings.

Monitor capture has poor performance on windows 7 and below, I would highly recommend game capture or window capture instead.

Ok, thanks for the response, I'll try window capture instead to see how that works.

Does anyone else have anything to offer regarding my other issues with streaming or should I be posting these questions else where?

Would really like to get this ironed out.

Window Capture seems to be unreliable...

Once I've set Window Capture, it shows whatever websites I'm browsing, BUT when I exit out of OBS and re-load OBS. I get a black screen on Window Capture.

I have to re-set it up to get it to show anything in the window.
