Question / Help Streaming Skyrim

I am able to stream PlanetSide 2 and ACR with this wonderfully but not Skyrim. My friend and I are about to make new characters and would love to be able to watch each others gameplay on our second monitors. Does OBS not work with Skyrim or am I doing something wrong?

Some games are more demanding on your system than others . Since streaming itself is pretty demanding as well some games can cause you trouble .

For example if you stream Path of exile you don't even notice that you are streaming, while streaming Battlefield 3 it would give you a weird laggyish wonky feeling while playing.

If you post your system specs and the resolution/fps you are streaming at, that would help a lot to determine if your machine is good enough to handle it.

Yeah what Dario said, Skyrim is a pretty resource intensive game, even on low settings, reason why i dont stream it yet even with the PC specs i have. You might have to adjust your OBS settings differently to accommodate the encoding throughput

What do you mean by "Does OBS not work with Skyrim?"

If you mean that it's not showing up in Game Capture, the most common reason for this in Skyrim is the use of any mods involving FXAA injectors, as they interfere with the graphics hook that OBS uses. You will need to uninstall and not just disable these mods, making sure to remove any D3D9.dll files that were added by said mods.

Alternatively, I believe you can use a mod that makes Skyrim run in fullscreen windowed mode and then just use window capture. This will allow you to use all your mods and still stream it, but I'm not sure how much of a performance hit Skyrim might have running in windowed mode (might not be any)

Alright this all makes sense, I am using FXAA Post process injector so that might be the issue. I have a friend with a custom built PC as well that was $2000 so really nice stuff, don't know his specs so I cant share, but he was not able to stream it either. It might be that his EMB was disrupting the graphics hook as well. We were able to get the stream to work yesterday in windowed mode but that did cause a significant performance hit to both of us.

I'll test it out with FXAA uninstalled and see if that's the problem.

Intel CI5 2500K
8GB Ram
Gigabyte Ga-Z68X-UD3h-B3
Nvidia GTX 550TI
Barracuda 2TB hard drive

I play at 1920x1080 and stream at 1280x720 with 30 FPS

Yea, if you are using advanced graphical mods for your game that use a proxy direct3d DLL, they will often prevent game capture from functioning properly.

Hey, new here; I'm only trying to record video enough to make animated gifs for my blog and I've encountered issues here.

Yes, I am using ENBSeries, however I can prove to you for a fact that when I first set up, OBS still recorded the game just fine, even with ENB running.

However, initially I encountered a different issue; everything worked well, except that my recorded videos displayed an atrocious framerate much lower than i was running when i recorded them. So I decided to play around with settings to see if I could allocate memory better and whatnot, being new to the program. Well, I forgot to run it as administator when I restarted it and my hotkeys weren't working, so I messed around with settings for quite a while before realizing my simple mistake. However, now I have encountered this black screen issue, which everyone else seems to have as well. Every thread I find claims it's impossible to run OBS correctly with ENBSeries running simultaneously, when i can personally attest that this isn't true.

So I'm curious as to what's going on, and I still have the video files recorded with my ENB active and can upload them to a dropbox link or something if anyone wants proof, and if it would help I can screenshot all of my settings as well.
My graphics card is just an old NVIDIA GeForce GT 240, but I'm not sure my system specs have anything to do with the black screen issue? I feel like that will be more relevant once I get back to the framerate issue.

Anyways, I would like to fix my framerate issue but figured I'd post in here first to say that it is absolutely NOT impossible to record Skyrim using OBS with an ENB running alongside it. Again, I have proof if anyone would like it.

This is what I get for trying to do all this at 3:00 AM after pounding 48 oz of monster energy I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
