Question / Help Streaming Setup | 2 different Inputs -> 1 Output

Hi,

i want to build a streaming setup, which is able to stream from two different sources. We dont need any 4k60fps possibilities.

For Example:

Input:
Gaming_PC1
Gaming_PC2/Video Game Console

Output:
Streaming_PC (i7 2600, 16 GB RAM)

We want while gaming and livestreaming switch between these two sources on the fly. We dont need both streams at the same time. How can we handle it best way?

- Do we need 2 Capture Cards?
- Is it possible to use one capture card and an external HDMI Switch. Two Input One Output?
- A Mix of 1 Capture Card and NDI Streaming?

Any experience in that case?

Thanks in advance,
Timo

Either a capture card and an HDMI switch, or a capture card with two inputs, or two capture cards. Or NDI x 2 (if you get it working for one, you can probably do them both, except this won't work for your console now that I think about it). If you use the HDMI switch, then your button to change scenes "on the fly" will be the HDMI switch button, which could be inconvenient. Also, you'll need to make sure the source framerate and resolution is identical between the two video inputs or there will probably be a visual glitch when you switch. Possibly it'll glitch regardless. I'd probably try NDI first (since its the least expensive), and if that didn't work well enough, go with a capture card with two inputs or two capture cards.

Thanks for your fast response.
I tried for a short time to use NDI but there are some input lags. I guess it depends on the used CPU encoding. My AMD graphics doesn't show up in the encoding setup configuration. So i ll look for a nvidia graphic for my streaming computer and test again. NDI maybe in combination with a capture card and test the different setups. The switch solution sounds, as should it be the last way :-)

Thanks so far, for your answer.
