Streaming Option

Hi I'm new to OBS and don't really know If this is the right thread to ask this but. What If I accidentally press start streaming without being connected to YouTube or Twitch. What will happen will I just stream nothing will stream get started at all? What will happen please let me know.

OBS will attempt to make a connection... so it will use up negligible CPU and bandwidth during attempt, then if that fails you'll get the red error notice (I think)... basically don't worry about it.
Note, you configure the stream connection settings in OBS. Better security is to not use a Persistent Stream key (which could be hijacked if not super careful and/or unlucky). So for me, I log into target platform, copy latest stream key into OBS, and test/start streaming. Note I use Scheduled live video vs just a ad-hoc go live, but same principles apply

Thank you for a reply. I watched too many stream fails and now I'm kinda scared that I would stream without me knowing do thanks for clearing things up.
