Question / Help Streaming on one monitor with PC/Console?

Hey all, I was wondering if it is possible to stream a console game like Injustice or Marvel vs Capcom 3 on one monitor that is also plugged into your pc? I'm hoping to buy an ASUS VH238H or w/e that has DVI/HDMI ports in which I'll move my PS3 from my living room to my room so I don't have to annoy my family with the constant clacking of buttons etc. Usual setup, DVI=PC and HDMI=PS3. If it IS possible to do that, how would I switch the broadcast from my PC to PS3? Would it just simply capture Monitor? or are there some other formalities involved? Thanks.

Unfortunately, that's not quite how it works. Your computer won't have any idea what's going on with the monitor on a port that it isn't connected to, it doesn't feed the image back to your computer or anything like that.

In order to capture video from a console, you're going to need a capture card. The PS3 also poses an additional complication, HDMI output on that console is always protected using HDCP compression, so you will either have to find some kind of HDCP stripper, or use component cables.
