Question / Help Streaming off the proper monitor

New Member
Hello, I use a dual monitor setup with Monitor 2 being my primary. When I go into the obs video settings it doesn't matter whether I select to stream off of monitor 1 or 2, it always is streaming off monitor 1 (which is my secondary monitor). Any idea why this is happening? I need to be able to stream off my primary monitor (2).

I have closed out the program and re-opened as well as shut off the stream and start it up again as well after trying to change to monitor settings. Neither has worked.

If you are using Windows 8, make sure you are using an up to date version of OBS, this was an issue in one of the older versions when the optimized monitor capture for Windows 8 was initially added. If the problem persists, please post a log file. If you don't know how/where to find your log files, refer to this forum post: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97

I unfortunately don't have access to Windows 7 at the moment, so I sadly can't personally check if it's broken or not. You could try the latest test version, though I don't think there have been any major changes to software capture lately.

I'm not sure it matters, but have you tried disabling Aero? You should have Aero disabled anyway with monitor capture on Windows 7

Neither disabling Aero or Upgrading to the latest version has fixed the issue. The stream still always picks my secondary monitor to stream off of.

I'm not sure what exactly you're asking me to do. I searched %AppData%\OBS\ and there are a bunch of sub-directories including some logs but what is notepad scenes.xconfig?

in the main directory, there should be a file named "scenes" try and open that with a custom txt program.. such as windows notepad.
