Question / Help Streaming multiple instances of the same game in one stream

Hi,

I hope this hasn't already been covered. I've tried searching but couldn't find anything, so here goes:

I have two WoW accounts. I some times play them both at the same time on the same machine, each in "full screen windowed mode" on the main monitor, alt tabbing back and forth. I've tried creating a scene which shows both games at the same time but it seems that OBS is unable to distinguish which process is which game. What I end up with is an area where one of the instances appears and the other is always blank. Changing the settings in OBS will some times cause the other game to appear in that area, but never both at the same time. I was able to do this just fine in XSplit, so I know it's not any sort of OS/DirectX limitation. I'm using game source for both. I did notice there was no way to differentiate the two instances of the game from the game source drop down though. Anyhow, hoping someone can provide some insight.

Thanks.

you could always just try a monitor capture with aero off that would most likely work because wehn you bring the other game to the foreground it should just display your monitor or that game. Another method is to use window capture and attempt capturing two different windows. I haven't actually attempted capturing 2 of the same game at the same time.

My goal is to have a scene with both games visible concurrently. Monitor capture will not achieve that. I'll give the window capture a try. I just wonder if that's less optimal.

Window Capture is faster than Monitor capture.
Both games visible concurrently? You've noticed the 'Edit Scene' button, right? That you can re-scale sources down? There are a lot here that miss that... so you could just shrink them down so they both fit. Though you'll likely have some blank space to deal with, too (webcam/chatbox maybe, or a branding graphic?).
