Hello all,
We currently stream live events a few times a week to http://breakers.tv/sportsboxbreaks using OBS. We have all the correct vaughnlive.tv settings setup in OBS, and it's been working great for several months now.
We get quite a few requests from iOS users saying that they can't view the Breakers.tv page in Safari, and of course this makes sense because it's a flash player which renders video on Breakers. We typically make a suggestion on using an alternate browser like Dolphin, or Puffin on their device -- but we might actually be losing some customers over this, as many of them simply don't want to install an alternate browser.
So after viewing the following tutorial - http://goo.gl/YmA8EG -- I think we're going to attempt a dual stream using Nginx as its own RTMP server. We'll probably try a local installation of Nginx first with the dual stream, and if it works well possibly use a VPS to take some of the bandwidth load off the local connection.
Ok... so assuming we get this working, I do have a question on the YouTube side regarding "Live Events".
Do you have to create a new LIVE EVENT within your YouTube Video Manager each time you want to Live stream? Or can you simply create ONE Live Event, and with the stream key from that event coded into OBS settings -- YouTube will automatically start the stream anytime you start streaming from within OBS?
I realize you also have to click "Start Streaming" from within YouTube Live Control Room to actually start the YouTube stream. But if that's been clicked, but you simply never click the "Stop Streaming" button in Live Control Room - would YouTube essentially be sitting there indefinitely ready to accept stream data as you start/stop your OBS streaming?
Sorry for the long post, but just wanted to relay all information on what we're looking to do. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
