Question / Help Streaming in 480p instead of 1080p.

So I like to stream LoL. I set up OBS a LONG time ago and basically forgot how to change things I want to change. The way its set up now, I stream in 1080p. While I don't lag ingame, the stream lags during 5v5 team fights etc. I believe the way to fix this is to change the stream to 720 or 480p?

Some things to know:
My monitor/desktop resolution: 1080p
League of Legends resolution: 1080p
Current streaming resolution: 1080p
Desired: 480 or 720p(If this is how to fix the lag during team fights/intense game moments)
Upload speed: 1.9
Max bitrate: 1300
Buffer size: 1200

I have the OBS base resolution at 1080p, no downscale, and fps on OBS set to 30.

If you need to know anything else feel free to ask, thanks for any help I get.

Well the only thing for sure would be to either have the downscale to 480/720 whichever you like, but I know for sure your bitrate can't handle 1080. Or to type your resolution in the custom resolution.

Lag in your stream could either be caused by your cpu/gpu not keeping up or connection issues. Best way to find out would be if you posted a log file of your latest stream (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97 here's how to).

Both pretty much require you lowering your output resolution. But if your connection doesn't keep up, you might need to decrease your bitrate as well.

Your base resolution has to be the same as your monitor resolution, which is also the same as your game resolution.
For your bitrate I indeed recommend downscaling. This is one setting which determines what your output/stream resolution will be. Don't change your base resolution to a custom resolution.

Thanks for your help so far. Heres a pastebin link to my last stream's log.

That's not too many dropped frames, but you'd definitely be well-served to downscale, because there are a lot of lagged frames. With that bit rate, I would downscale at least to 720p, maybe 540p.

Yes, at least I can see your connection is not the issue. Your pc is having some trouble keeping up, which is causing some lag (not being able to present new frames in time). So, the first thing would be to enable downscale.
In settings -> video, select a value after "Resolution Downscale:"

1.5 for 720p
2.25 for 480p

you will see the resulting resolutions after the downscale factors, so it's really up to you to choose the amount of downscaling you like.

Actually, have you run a speedtest recently/during your streaming hours? You might be able to bump up your bit rate to 2000-3000 depending on the stability of your connection throughput, and alleviate some of that lag.

Downscaling to 720p (using the dropdown box and a 1.5 setting) is still recommended as unless you're partnered, your viewers will need to have a fast enough connection to download whatever you send; only Twitch partnered streams have the transcoding options available.
