Question / Help Streaming has become a painful job.

So I am unsure of what to really say here so I will keep it simple and add all the info I can.

Basically, I have what I think to be a more that good enough system and connection to stream with.
The games that I stream should not be hard to stream, but I always have issues.

Ether frame drops on my end, bad quality, in game frame lag, in game lag that isn't frame drops but just feels like it, and un-watchable streams server side (From what friends are telling me. note this is all over the last 4 months so it can't just be twitch having a hickup.)

The games I stream are, Quake live, Warsow, Cod4/bo2. I would like to stream other games but I try once , get one of the issues and give up.

My specs:
I7 3770k @ 3.50
660 TI 2gb
8gb corsair vengeance @ 1600MHz

My connection:
68mb Down / 15mb up

Here is an example of my last stream (Note parts are black because I couldn't be bothered to change to desktop source when finding new servers)

This was the best I have got it. Still had a strange lag in game that made aiming feel sluggish
And the quality is just awful compared to what I should be able to do.

According to the OBS log, the stream is performing perfectly well. It was even doing alright at 1080p30. However, if you're experiencing game performance degradation while streaming, then the only real thing you can do is lower your settings: downscale your resolution (which I see you did), lower your framerate (which I see you did), or change x264 preset to superfast or ultrafast.

Having said that, I see that your frame times seem to be bogged down somewhere in the video frame thread, in an unknown spot...that seems a bit suspect. Your machine should be able to do 720p30 without a problem, so I wonder if there's something else going on. Are you overclocking any equipment, or running other overlay programs or background programs?

I have not overclocked anything and I normally have nothing running in the background. And if I do it will just be a media player or web page for music.
While droped the x264 down more seem the right thing to do, When I did this before it just became un-watchable because of the quality.

What would be the settings that overall would be the most fitting with my hardware for say 720p@30?
It would be nice to have a more hardware specific base point to work from before we get to troubleshooting.

You should be able to do 720p30 with the veryfast preset at 2000kbps just fine with that hardware. And according to the OBS log, you can.

What kind of game performance degradation are we talking, here? Because performance degradation is normal and expected, which is why people get a second PC to stream from.
