I've just recently ordered a new laptop which I will be using for college work and I'm just wondering if it will increase the performance and capture quality of my computer. I have an elgato HD and I've noticed that my computers performance drops significantly when using a video capture device. The performance even drops using Dxtory as a video capture device.
The laptop is - http://m.novatech.co.uk/laptop/range/no ... n1561.html

Basically I will stream the game from my computer and have the signal going to my laptop, so the laptop will be doing all of the encoding.

Thanks for any help!

Is the computer you linked the new one or the old one? Because it's pretty bad for streaming, especially with a dual-core CPU.

Can you post your log from a streaming session with your current computer? http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97

Are you asking if a capture card will improve OBS's performance? Because it won't...

My main computer is:
Intel i5 3570k 4.0ghz
Amd HD 7990 6gig
8 gig of ram.

Basically i will be using my laptop to capture my gaming computers footage and stream from the laptop also. For example, it'll be like capturing a consoles footage to PC, but instead it's my PC footage to another PC. I'm wondering if it'll take the load off of my gaming PC.

It will take the encoding load off your gaming PC but...that dual core CPU in the laptop might hold you back pretty significantly. Temper your expectations.
