Question / Help Streaming and recording performance?

Hey, I'd like to know if doing both streaming and recording (saving to file in obs) makes your FPS even worse than when only streaming? I tried to do it today and it seems more choppy, but I'm not actually quite sure if it has any impact or if my PC is just performing bad with the game I'm playing, which is Battlefield 4. What's even worse is that when I turned it on, the game didn't seem to lag that much at some points, yet the preview and the stream were both really laggy and choppy looking, while my fps in the game was fine. Know what's up with that?

Enabling the "Save to file" checkbox doesn't really use any extra processing resources. The only extra requirement it places on you is hard drive space/speed. If you're playing a game that is constantly loading things from the hard drive for whatever reason, and you are saving the video to that same hard drive, your game might experience performance issues. But the encoding shouldn't be slowed down because of that.

As for the stream performance, can you post your log? That will make it easier to diagnose problems. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97
