Question / Help Streaming a real event from a HDMI camera

Ok, so everyone is crazy about streaming games. But when it comes to streaming real live events I find no information in the forums (sorry if it is there). Here I go, I need to stream with good quality a multi camera event, not professional just geeky. Two cameras with a hdmi input card in a high end PC.

So: what do I need for that?, will the AverMedia Live Gamer HD Lite or AVermedia AVerTV H727HD Capture PCI-E work if i am not using the PC for other things like playing or so?.

I'd recommend the AVerMedia C127 Game Broadcaster HD. 1080p30 (also from 1080p60 sources) uncompressed HDMI capture, and no built-in hardware encoder, because that doesn't work with OBS anyway.

What video format on the HDMI input from those cameras? Are you getting two capture cards to connect both cameras at once? Do you actually need good cameras or can you use two 1080p webcams?

In my experience, a webcam is never a substitute for a half-decent camcorder. Even "premium" webcams use the kind of shit sensors you'd find in a smartphone. Jello, noise, poor white balance, overexposure -- that is if you can even get them to record at 30fps all the time and not auto slow shutter half the time.

Eh, if you buy a decent 1080p webcam instead of a $10 bargain basement special, those issues are less of a problem. Admittedly though, with the larger aperture and sensors available (assuming they aren't just a huge case around a 'smartphone' sensor, as is becoming the case) they can perform better in situations with questionable or poor lighting, whereas a webcam will rely on having the subject(s) lit correctly.

1080p webcams have their own problems, since they are restricted to the bandwidth of a USB 2.0 connection. The problems that the c920 has recording 1080p video in OBS, for example, is pretty well-documented. An HDMI camcorder will certainly give more control and can be more relied upon to give good quality.

Back on topic, I concur with Muf's suggestion of the C127. If all you need is simple HDMI capturing, that's a pretty a affordable choice for 1080p30 capture.

One more issue with this: when I send the HDMI from the camera to the card I dont get digital, only 720 lines (TV like), but in the AverMedia Center I can see the HDMI input in high quality. Any idea?.

I only see two drivers for the capture card: AvermediaBDA Analog Capture and AvermediaBDA Analog Capture Secondary... do you know how to get the HDMI input in OBS?

So you got the H727 I see. Hmm HDMI for me was on the "Secondary" but I often had to switch the video pin as well in the crossbar configuration. Until this is done you only have the SD inputs available.

Then this card will "downscale" 1080p60 input to an interlaced 1080i image in most cases, at 30fps. It cannot capture 1080p60 as the C127 would have done, but if you are happy with the result you see in the AverMedia software, you can definitely reach the same in OBS.
