Question / Help Streaming @ 720p with black bars

I want to stream like this:

Why is it such a pain in the neck to do so?
My ingame settings are 1024x768. A bit too tall for the streaming res(1280x720). The only way that I can figure out works is if you downscale the ingame window with "Edit Scene". But that is never pixel perfect. You're always some pixels off. Why is it not possible to just hit "Fit to screen" and it automatically downscales to 720 pixels from 768?

so set in game to 1280x720??? Its kinda strange to scale a 4:3 to a 16:9 ratio. Is your monitor a CRT?

I dont like playing in 16:9. I sit so close to my monitor that I get dizzy with that great of FOV.

1. Put your resolution in game to normal.

2. Go Settings > Video >

a) make sure your monitor is selected and select a downscale that is close to 720, filter lancoz

b) or type in custom 960 x 720, if you want to have exactly 720.

But that wont stream with black bars.

EDIT

Just realized "Stretch image to screen" wasn't selected in the game properties in OBS. Now it works!
