Hello Guys.

i would like to live stream with decent quality, but my computer is pretty bad atm,so i thought to use Quick Sync to reduce cpu usage.

My computer specs:

Processor: i3 2125 3.30 ghz

ram: 8gb 1600 cl9 ballistix

Video Card: MSI nvidia gtx 560 ti hawk edition.

My upload connection is: 2.7 mbps

After that the problem is that when im using x 264 encoder (720p @60FPS) i get good quality stream but i got lag in game cos the cpu is not strong enought.

But when im using Quick sync with the same quality, and im gonna watch the stream, my eyes just start bleeding, for the extreme bad quality i get.

i tried to play with settings but nothing changes still really bad quality is like im streaming in 320p instead of 720p.

my question is..... it's me doing something wrong with the setup or anything else?

or the quick sync is not that usefull as i thought?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english! :)

The QuickSync quality of 2nd Gen Core-i-CPUs is rather... suboptimal. Not much you can do beside upgrading to an 3xxx or 4xxx series CPU.

Hardware-based encoders are mostly terrible for quality. 720/60 quality out of them is not going to be good, at all, unless you're doing low-graphics, low-motion games. It just is how it is.

Your best (and only, really) bet is to upgrade your CPU at the least.

Strongly advise dropping to 30fps (and possibly 540p). In most cases, 60fps is just numbers-chasing outside of some very specific instances. Especially when you're dealing with having to use QSV, you want to lower the demands placed on your bitrate as much as possible. QuickSync is a band-aid for a bad CPU; it's a workaround, not a fix.

Only time that 60fps is really needed is when playing older/retro games that blit sprites for transparency, when running at 30fps could make them appear solid or just disappear (Super Metroid is a prime example of this).

thanks for the answer, i tried what u said but actually from720p to 560p there is no difference using quick sync for the quality... is that normal?

i'll get a new cpu as soon as i get some money :)
