Question / Help Streamed/Recorded Game Sounds Underwater on PC

When I do any streams/recording from games on my PC the audio from the game always sounds really poor in the footage, but in my headset is perfectly fine. The only way to describe the audio is that it sounds like it is underwater.

When I do recordings and streams from games on my consoles using the Elgato HD60 Pro everything is perfectly fine and there are no issues whatsoever, however using the desktop audio with the game capture in OBS (not through the Elgato) sounds horrible.

Further to this, the audio from all sources such as my microphone or Discord / TeamSpeak / Xbox Party Chat are all perfectly fine.

I'm not sure what to do to fix this, but I've got everything set to 48kHz and on stereo.
I am using the following equipment (which you can identify in the log file):
  • Astro A40 with MixAmp Pro TR (I have tried this as USB only to get the full 6 channels and also with optical and USB plugged in so it can only utilise stereo)
  • Blue Yeti Pro
  • My PC (only one)
  • Elgato HD60 Pro
My set up is a bit complicated, but it does work:
  • Blue Yeti Pro --> Adobe Audition --> Virtual Audio Cable A
  • Discord / TeamSpeak / Xbox Party Chat --> Virtual Audio Cable B
  • All other audio (including the game) --> Virtual Audio Cable Default
I then listen to all of these audio sources through my headset.

These are some recordings taken recently demonstrating the audio issue:

I have attached the log file for these recordings (plus possibly a few other recordings that I didn't upload).

If you need more information let me know, thanks!

I hate to do this so quickly, but I have to bump this thread, especially as someone else posted they had the same issue in YouTube comments.

OK, so I solved this, I was silly and added filters in OBS like noise suppression, noise gate and gain to my game audio by accident. After I removed them the sound was fine again.
