Question / Help Stream seems to freeze

Lolwhowtf

New Member
When I'm streaming and just running around my stream just randomly freezes for 1 or 2 seconds then just fast forwards for no reason. I can't seem to find the problem off it. No frames dropped, still a green indicator.
This tends to happen on WoW and SC2. It seems to happen less on SC2, and on wow when I start to move and run it freezes.

Streaming to twitch server: EU: London, UK (Secondary)

Quality Balance: 10
Max bitrage / buffer size: 4000
Bitrate: 256
Resolution: 1920/1080p
Multithreaded Optimizations is checked,

Use CFR / CBR both checked off. Everything else on "Advance" is off

Try updating obs, if you run the game in full screen mode while "game capturing" it will freeze when you're not actually focusing on it.

The problem is still happening.
If anyone with a similar problem, could help me.

It's not really frames lost the stream just straight out freezes on wow, sc2 anything I play. I tried to mess around with hte settings it still happened.

What's your upload speed ? you don't wanna check your stream for freezes when streaming, check the vods after. if it's not happening there then like obs stats in the log file, everything is running fine and you're only getting the well known viewer stream lag because you're streaming.

No worries, if possible use game capture with a separate scene from this build(64bit if possible) when streaming the actual game. windows 7's monitor capture at 60 fps is not the best option.
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=68

also give cbr a try since you're spiking up to double the bitrate trying to stream that game.

I usually do use Game capture, but something with wow that makes me not want to go full screen, and if I use game capture it has this black thing around it. But I'll give it a go the next time i'm on.

Do you know a rough settings I should be using, or is my current set up fine?

You can still do game capture with full screen (windowed). if it only works for you when on fullscreen (non windowed) though make sure that the game and ob's base resolution are on the same aspect ratio so you wouldn't have to stretch anything or have the "black bars" showing for you .

your current settings should work. post a log after updating and everything.

Hey, I did put CBR on, and decided to change the FPS to 35 instead off 30. Thanks again, about to double check the Vod now.

I streamed for about an hour and a half or so, and got 6000 frames lost. Some reason it didn't show. But for Starcraft 2, the quality seems pretty sexy for the most part and don't think I saw anything happen. Do you think it would be better to stream at 720p for people who have shit internet?

hilalpro

You still have to take care of the frame drops though,

lower aac back to 128 (should still be transparent to the ears) and try another server.
for starcraft your stream is fine as is, if you want to stream high motions games though 720p60fps should be a better option.

It could just be my internet though. Been streaming for an hour now on "Kerbal Space Program" and haven't had one single dropped frame, or maybe skype while doing 2s on SC2. Is my guess. But I guess 6000 is quite high when I streamed for 12 hours the other day on terraria I had just under 900
