Question / Help Stream quality is fine, but recording quality isn't?

I'm having a bit of an issue while I'm trying to record footage of a game. I have streamed the game before and had good results, a smooth stream and no video issues. However when I try to use obs to record footage, the footage comes out choppy and I can't seem to figure out why. I've tried changing a lot of setting, downscaling to 720p, changing the bitrate and encoder, nothing seems to be working. I even have used the same settings I stream with and it is still having issues. Is it a hardware issue? Does recording footage require more CPU usage than streaming does? I am having trouble understanding why these problems exist.

Shouldn't be any difference between recording and streaming as long as you have the "use stream encoder" option checked for the recording. Unless you're running into some weird issue where writing to disk is literally eating more CPU cycles than encoding footage, in which case that's beyond the scope here and you should get your system checked.

Can you post a log of a streaming/recording attempt?
