Yes, you're using an APU which are notoriously underpowered, and as a result have to use a TON of bitrate to compensate somewhat for the Ultrafast preset. It's still going to look pretty bad until you use a slower preset.

Drop to 30fps and see if it gets any better... short version is, you need a more powerful processor and to use a slower preset to make it look better.

its more like get your preset back to veryfast and downscale to 720p and 30 fps and your results will already be good and your cpu will not die under the load

I doubt an APU can handle 720p at veryfast. Try 480p or 360p, you're definitely not going to be able to do 1080p.

Would it be any better with this CPU AMD A10-7850K ‘Black Edition’ APU (3.7/4.0Ghz, 95W, 4MB total dedicated L2 cache, socket FM2+). That is the best I can get with my motherboard. Unless you can suggest a cheap motherboard for gaming like 100$?

not getting a budget system in first point :x

and yes this apu would be a bit better ... but still theres not really much more than 720p30 possible

This system isn't just for streaming, I also do play a lot of other things and I don't know what you mean by not getting a budget system this computer was pretty cheap. I only had to buy the power supply and gtx 760. I can also get another motherboard, the one I have can only support APUs.

Unfortunately, there is a reason the computer was cheap. Good for light-duty use, but doesn't have the strength needed to encode video in real-time. APUs are known to be very poor processors, and are sold cheaply for a reason.

Yes, you will likely need a new motherboard and CPU. I would advise if possible switching to a Core i7 (a true quad core with 8 threads or a hexacore with 12, not the cheap ones with only 2 cores and 4 threads that they have started selling) or modern Xeon-based system if you intend to livestream regularly; it will save you a lot of headaches later, and allow you to stream at MUCH higher quality. It's not cheap though... buying an APU-based system has locked you into the low-range, and buying a faster APU is not really going to help much (if at all). They're just BAD when it comes to any computationally-heavy task.

As a workaround, you may be able to turn on NVENC and offload most of the encoding process to your GPU. It delivers relatively poor quality as compared to a traditional CPU encoder setup, but potentially may give better quality than your APU can provide. Make no mistake, this is just a bandage, and will not solve the underlying problem.

I would still advise dropping to 30fps (at most) and potentially downscaling even further.

actually in this case the nvenc will achieve the best results here.

download the latest nvidia beta drivers enable nvenc in obs advanced settings and stream 720p30 with a 3k bitrate (use the low latency high quality nvenc preset) this will probably the best you will get out of your system right now and for the near future unless you actually going to upgrade

Well, not like I put 1200$ into it if that is cheap in your mind, but will definitely buy a new processor. The computer is a hardcore gaming machine when not livestreaming. I play Titanfall at everything max and Black Ops 2 at everything max, just some games like Sc2, BoI, and Risk of Rain in the later levels are the only thing to lag. Non-CPU intense game are a breeze to run with a 760 even with a bad CPU, yet I'm not a regular livestreamer only on weekends maybe once a month. People give bad rep to the APUs but they deliver enough to play games even without a graphics card. Back to the point a motherboard like ASRock Z77 Extreme4 would be good?? And a i7 is too expensive for me a CPU for 100-180$ would be better if any you could recommend.

AMD APU's are OK for games if that's all you are trying to do with it. Once you start doing CPU intensive stuff they melt, which is why they are horrible for live streaming. If you just trying to live stream for fun use NVENC like everyone else said, since situations like this is what it is good for. Download the latest WHQL 334.89 drivers that came out today for your GPU and you are good to go.

If you really want to buy a new MOBO and CPU save up until you can afford an i5 4670k at least and a decent Z87 board. No use in buying old tech, as that is literally throwing away your money. Just my opinion on the subject.

Yep, nope. Turn on NVENC. It's really your best solution, especially if you only intend to stream erratically.

You are near the top of a very short hill, with your APU. Calling them 'anemic' is paying them a compliment. Going to a better APU isn't going to help. You need to switch to an architecture that doesn't, frankly, suck. Save up your money and just use the NVENC in the meantime. You need to suck it up, march down the hill, buy a new motherboard and CPU, and leave the APU cesspit behind. A $180 budget quick-fix is going to do exactly two things for you as far as livestreaming goes. Jack, and shit.

Yes, Titanfall and the Fish Spirits series tend to be more GPU-heavy than CPU. Isaac, being a flash game, is very CPU-intensive. So it's not really surprising that an APU would crap out on it. Likewise with Risk of Rain, being developed under GameMaker Studio... a somewhat lacking piece of software that doesn't even handle DX9. Likewise SC2 tends to lean on the CPU a lot more than the graphics card, but of the three it's at least a LITTLE more GPU-heavy.

Your APU is out of gas. APUs suck. Come to accept these facts. Use NVENC as a band-aid and accept the lower quality. If you decide to get into livestreaming regularly and desire decent quality, you'll NEED to switch to an actual CPU. So save up pocket change, or set aside a fund. Something.

Really don't know how many more ways it can be said, there is no cheap way forward, with the system you have purchased.

Sorry to jump on this fairly old post. But I would love some input before I possibly go and sell parts I could actually make use of. Reading this thread indicates that an AMD APU is bad for streaming but thats because the user is also gaming on the same machine.. (and also using a low end APU).

Could I possibly get some input on whether a TWO PC build setup for streaming and the second PC being a Asus Crossblade Ranger with the 7850k APU and 8GB RAM be good enough to purely encode and upload the stream? eg: I have a 6k gaming rig whilst I have a test bench of sorts with the crossblade and APU free for capturing and uploading... Would that be upto doing 1080p 60fps? Since its sole purpose will to be encode and upload no gaming required...
