stream indicator turns red as soon as I try to start streaming

I have been using OBS and boxcast for several years with no problem. Today the stream indicator turned red and has continued to turn red whenever I click start streaming. I am not aware that I have changed any setting, but it will not stream.

You need to check your internet connection, especificaly for the rtmp protocol.

The issue may be caused by the Killer NIC, a bad network cable, router or modem. Try changing the port where the cable connects to the router/modem. If everything checks, contact your ISP.
