Question / Help Stream bitrate drops to 0 kb/s with certain games

Hello. I've been experiencing an extremely frustrating problem with OBS Studio where, when streaming certain games to Twitch, the bitrate drops to 0 kb/s after some amount of time has passed. I'm stumped on how to fix it.

I can stream successfully for a short amount of time (usually a few minutes up to half an hour), but then the bitrate (shown in the bottom-right corner of OBS Studio) drops to 0. I haven't noticed a pattern for when this happens. OBS itself doesn't crash, and I'm not disconnected from Twitch. If I click Stop Streaming, the text changes to "Stopping Stream", but then OBS spins forever, so the only actual fix is to close OBS and reopen.

I've only seen this problem for specific games. So far, those games are Dark Souls III, Overwatch, and most recently The Talos Principle. My general stream settings aren't the problem because I can (and regularly do) stream other games just fine.

This problem basically makes it impossible for me to stream some games, and that's infuriating. Does anyone know what might be happening?

You are on a very old version of OBS Studio, this bug was fixed in the latest. Please update.

Hello i got the same problems not all the time but some times i get like 0 kbs since the new updates everything was fine before and obs is stop streaming on its own just done that yesterday then i close obs and turn it back on and it was ok and also i got bad frames in some games like star citizen when streaming, if i use for example obs streamlabs or nvidia shadow play its ok you guys need to check into that. Because obs streamlabs kinda suck atm cause you cannot install noise filters for mic and noise gate

Please create your own thread with a log and full description of your issue. Any connectivity issues will be the fault of your connection.

Additionally, Streamlabs' version of OBS is not maintained by us, and we are unable to provide support for it. You will need to contact them for assistance with their program.
