Question / Help stream 30 or 60 fps?

Do you need a better computer to stream 60 fps than 30? or do you need a better connection for it?

also what's a good bitrate to stream for people viewing on a mobile phone? Some people complain about buffering in my stream when using 3,500.

I stream counter strike and arma 3.

Better both, more fps = more bitrate to look good and more power to process.

If you are unpartnered the recommendation is 2000kbps 30fps 720p because your viewers won't have transcoding options.

so you only need 2,000 for 30/720?

going 3,000 or 3,500 won't make a difference? or quality better?

thanks for the answers, I didn't know if I could stream 60 fps and keep the same bit rate.

I have 250/50 speeds, but not partnered....

You not being partnered basically limits you to an effective 2000kbit on the video side due to the above mentioned routing issues to the twitch viewer servers.

Yes, 3000 would increase the picture quality, BUT it would also increase the percentage of your potential viewers that would end up in buffering hell by a large enough margin to not be worth it.

60FPS needs between 50% and 100% more bitrate to maintain picture quality vs 30FPS.

The more bitrate you send, the less your viewers can actually download it. I'm sure over time the average viewer's internet is getting better and better, but right now the general recommendation is to limit yourself to 2000kb/s even though Twitch allows up to 3500 kb/s. If you think your average viewer has a bad-ass internet connection, then go ahead and stream at a higher bitrate. But if your viewers then start complaining that your stream is always buffering, you've raised it too high.

2000kb/s is good enough for 720p30, but more than this and the stream starts showing compression artifacts very severely. It really depends on a lot of factors, like the x264 preset your computer can manage, how high-motion your game is, etc. But this is a general guideline and you can tweak it at your own risk if you want.
