Question / Help strange quality preset problems on good pc

just started using obs today, and to be honest i cant find a good balance between bitrate and cpu presets
pc specs:
Intel i5 3470
16 gb ddr3 1600 corsair
GTX 660ti
128 kingston hyperx ssd
win7 x64bit
it seems that whenever i select a preset higher than superfast, the stream and my game starts lagging
veryfast and lower is unplayable and the stream starts stutter and lag.
(game capture fullscreen 1024)i'm currently streaming at 1920x1080 @60 fps , 10 quality , stream works fine at 6500 max bit 8000 max buffer with superfast preset in csgo but the quality SUCKS big time, i cant get it lower because of the game lag and stream stuttering ,i even tried using dxtory and unchecking multithreaded optimizations , but its the same.
i did some streaming with trial xsplit and could use the slow setting without any stream trouble but game was laggy a bit.
so i dont understand how veryfast and fast presets can be lagging my stuff
any help would be appreciated, thx.

Don't stream at 1080p60. Many viewers can't handle it because Flash struggles with it. Either downscale to 720p, or change to 30fps. Personally, I recommend the downscale.

Also, what service are you streaming to? If it's Twitch, they don't like you using that high of a bit rate. 3500 should be fine. Plus, with that high of a bit rate, fewer and fewer people would even have fast enough internet to be able to watch you.

Finally, I recommend using CBR for the same of stream smoothness/reliability, so the Quality Balance setting becomes moot.

Keep Multithreaded optimizations checked...if you have a multi-core CPU there is no reason to disable this.

After you fix those things, try switching back to veryfast.

Very few people will be able to watch the stream at that bitrate, and twitch will probably ban you. They do not want people streaming with over 4k bitrate.

You should be mindful of how much CPU is being utilized while streaming; you will not be able to use the veryfast or fast preset if you don't have enough. veryfast is recommended.

Furthermore, you should post a log file. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97

only reason im using obs is because it lets me stream 1080 @ 60fps, thats the only res i want to stream csgo at.
as for the other things, if i lower bandwith the stream becomes choppy and pixels become heratic.
if i switch to veryfast game and stream LAGS only 2 settigns i can use is superfast and ultrafast
tried cbr, the quality is the same, still cant use superfast

It is true, you can stream at those settings with ultra/superfast but the quality sucks.
If you want better quality , get a dedicated streaming PC, since you machine can't handle the settings you applied. Theres no other way around it.

yea dude but im thinking its a bug or something since my machine can easily handle slow preset on xsplit and lags on veryfast preset on obs.....

It is not a bug. And I doubt it handles slow preset on Xsplit. I really do.
Moreover, if it does handle it so well, why don't you just use Xsplit?

I would advice you to do what dodgepong said.
1080p 30FPS doesnt look as fluid as 60 FPS, but 60FPS isnt doable without getting noticable lag.
There will always be loss of quality when streaming games, you have to live with that.

You may have been able to run the slow reset on xsplit, but you were running it on a lower quality stream, since xsplit limits you when you are using the free version to lower resolution and framerate. 1080p is actually a surprisingly large jump in required processing power over 720p. I know you want to do 1080p60, but I'm telling you that it is actually a bad idea and not many people will be able to watch it smoothly, and requires a very large amount of processing power.
