Question / Help Strange FPS Issues

Hi,

I'm trying to stream but I'm only getting about 7 FPS out of OBS. Im getting about 200FPS in game and only using about 30% of CPU under high load yet I can't seem to break 10FPS consistently in OBS. Changing resolutions doesnt seem to help either. I tried 720p then 1080p and both times had the same exact FPS, which strikes me as very weird.

Hm, can you delete your webcam source? You need to actually delete it and not just uncheck the box in Sources. If you added it as a global source you will need to delete it from there as well.

Yes I only have one webcam source. It disappeared during the stream do I kept deleting it and re adding it until it showed up which is why there's that webcam spam in there.

No, I mean, try streaming without the webcam added a source at all. It's possible the webcam is causing issues. If the webcam is indeed the culprit, there are a few things we can try to change to get it all working properly.

No webcam and the FPS is still ~15. I went from 1080p down to 2.5 scale and the FPS didnt budge which is why I'm so confused. I almost feel like it is being limited.

I'm fairly certain it isnt my connection speed.

Could you enable Aero? It's recommended to be on with Window Capture. If that still doesn't make a difference, turn Aero back off and try Monitor Capture and post the log. Also, what game are you playing?

Yikes, those profiler results are awful...80ms per frame? Yeah, you'll get a terrible frame rate with that. You have almost 98% lagged frames, meaning your computer can't render the video fast enough to stream it.

It might be an issue with having an older CPU/GPU...what happens if you change the x264 preset to ultrafast?

I'm not even reaching above 30% CPU usage and my game window is still getting over 200FPS, so I'm not sure whats happening. Sometimes the log shows 1% lagged frames, sometimes it shows almost all of them. I can stream using xsplit with no dropped frames for hours on 1080p, but I would much prefer to use OBS.

Well i got it fixed. Turns out my bandwith was freaking out during streaming, so I dropped it, restarted my router and all seems well now. That was weird.
