Bug Report Stops recording audio when OS default audio device changes

Hi, I often record my VR gameplay using OBS. When I turn my VR headset on, the default audio device changes so the audio outputs to the VR headphones instead of the headphones on my desk. If the default audio device changes while OBS is already running, and OBS is set to record the default audio device, then it won't record the audio of the game. It also happens that the VR software crashes (SteamVR), with the same result to the audio in OBS after relauncing the VR software. So, I now have tens of hours of game play footage with no sound.
I've found that changing it to any audio device in OBS' audio properties, and then back to default makes it work again.

Okay, at this point I'm a bit desperate, because I have quite a few hours of recordings that I can't use because the audio is gone. I keep forgetting to make sure it's recording audio. Is there any way to sort this out without having to remember to fix the audio every time I start OBS first or something crashes at some point?

Update: Streamlabs OBS doesn't seem to have this issue.
