Stereoscopy tips

If you're on a budget like me who's on Social Security disability for less than minimum wage, sq-11s are your best friend. Unfortunately those do not get with modern os's very well which accept smart devices at the cost of undifferentiating dumb devices.

If you're planning to do Virtual Boy here's my tips:

If you plan to use real hardware get a virtual Double Tap (my name for two Virtual Taps of the same type attached to the same system.)

The next thing you need to do is merge the two pictures with a video editor. If you start with composite video keep it in composite video and use a 1990s era VHS composite video mixer. If you have a VGA double tap you're going to have to look around for a TV studio editing box. The cheapest one I found was an Analog Way Pulse PLS 300.

Set the left eye to black and red. Set the right eye to black and cyan.

Play with the controls to find a merge level that is perfect that makes the reds and the right cyans of equal intensity.

I don't know if I'm lucky or if the equipment naturally captures 3D and it's up to our individual eyes to interpret it but I required no adjustments just a simple overlay of two layers without any horizontal shift and the perspective should be right for most people if not all.

Here's a tip for using Sega Master System Sega scope 3D as well as Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 3D.

1 find a 3D glass for your respective TV or Master System that has the arms broken you can get it for cheaper and you were going to take the arms off anyway so I pay for them?

2. Without covering up the eye holes find a way to Velcro on one of those glasses to either two sq-11s for the modern systems or a Minoru 3D camera if you're planning to do the Master System.

The reason why you're doing the Master System with a Minoru is because the Master System is 240p15 L/R alternate frames. The Minoru is a slower camera by nature. It maxes out at 15 frames per second. Not good if you want to show your blazing hand speed on your controller but good if you want to focus Commando Style on the Sega Master System CRT to get the stereo effect.

presentation:

On my 3D stereoscopic games I really emphasize the 3D by broadcasting in monochromized red and cyan.

Filtered The color change to saturate the color negative 100%. That gives you a black and white picture with all the color information stripped from the picture.

Hit the color multiply button to multiply the Whites on the left camera by a factor of red so that you factor out all green and blue, and multiply the right camera by cyan.

Overlay the cameras so they overlap perfectly with no hanging edges.

With sq-11s you have to rotate the left camera 180° and then let the obs rotate it. another 180° to get an upright picture.

To overlay the pictures, choose additive blends to get the best pop out of your picture.

However if you want to maximize viewers for your non 3D content and have be in a 2d compatible 3D set your broadcast so it's a 32x9 broadcast as a side by side proper ratio broadcast.

The idea is that if you have a Google Cardboard program and w cheap plastic cell phone visor, it'll work straight Out of the Box.

Also it's 2D friendly where you can concentrate on only one of the two halves and everything is in its proper ratio.

If anyone could tell me how to take a live twitch video and convert 32x9 3D into other formats (like side by side half width 16x9, or zoom in left eye, or zoom in right eye, or monochromized red and cyan live conversion) I would like to know so that I could do videos on that and maybe even a website showing how to do that and maybe my website showing My stream in 2D as well as converted to other formats. And converting to 2D is easy without a web tool is as easy as just concentrating on one eye, either the left or the right, your choice.

Since even if I did make money off twitch I wouldn't be able to benefit by it unless it were a home run level hit, (medical insurance would kill me if I made a meager amount that's significant enough for the state to report). I might as well share my information because the extra content I enable with my stereoscopic tips would be more valuable then the monetary value of any money I make off twitch if it were kept a secret.

Consider this my biggest contribution to the community and in-kind payment for taking a free open source software and help service like OBS and this forum.
