Apparently I've just been listening to my streams and found out I've always been broadcasting in mono ever since my Mac Mini 2018 went to OS 12.5.1.
Apparently when I listen to all inputs whether it's from an HDMI known Surround Sound source or a Turtle Beach DSS outputting to Dolby headphone surround no matter what I put into it it always comes out mono.
I understand you can't control what Apple does. But I know a way around it if I could get some cooperation from the OBS people.
My thunderbolt 2 port has a separate mic input. And I took a device that I use normally for my Nintendo switch to put microphone voices on my screen and plug that straight into the Mac and I got both the left track and the right track to play simultaneously.
The problem is they're mixed down the middle. Meaning instead of a left to right panning motion I get a hiccup or echo.
A feature you should have is LR balance of even mono tracks. This is a way to get around Apple disallowing stereo video and audio inputs.
They are aware of it but customer service people cannot tell you why it's that way they said it's either for the engineers or for the business people / lawyers.
This is the secret how I would do it if OBS would cooperate. My speech microphone is on mono therefore equally goes to both sides. Throw one in the mic inputs all the way to the left on the LR balance so that it actually acts as a left microphone. Throw the other of the mic inputs into all the way right on the LR balance so that that acts as a right microphone.
Whether I tell it it's stereo inputs or mono inputs it does not let you balance the output LR.
I set OBS broadcast output to be stereo but there are no controls about moving something from side to side like having two separate mic inputs because apple is not allowing stereo inputs.
Please help. I really want to show off surround sound but is impossible if Apple cuts off surround inputs and even stereo inputs at the OS level.
Because I do most of my networking on my phone and my studio producing on my computer I'm going to have to send the files on the next email right away.
