Question / Help Steam overlay showing in CSGO with game capture

Hi

When I am in CS:GO, the steam overlay does appear on stream, even if I use game capture. I would like to hide the steam overlay, like most other streamers.

Anyone has a suggestion on how to fix this?

regards

On game capture properties 'capture third-party overlays (such as steam) is activated if yes remove them.

I am using OBS studio. I just upgraded from 0.13.2 to 0.13.4. I didn't see that option in game capture properties on either of them.

Did you make sure you had scrolled all the way down? The third party overlay option is at the very bottom after you hit Properties on the Game Capture source.

oh, didn't know there was a scroll... I found the option, but it was deactivated. I tried activating and re-deactivating it.. Still get the overlay :/

Not even half a year, but ok. Anyway, there were higher priority things to code. I believe some things are gonna be added to 0.14.2 that should make it occur less.

Jim posted a work around
There currently is an issue where if game capture succeeds in capturing the game very soon after the game has only just been started up, it'll always capture the steam overlay. In other words a workaround to this is opening OBS after opening the game instead (for the time being). I'll see about making an option to wait until steam overlay is active before injecting game capture. It's definitely doable.

There was no change regarding this issue, after updating to 0.14.2.. Is there anything I can do to help you guys fix this issue? I would gladly help in any way I can.

Osiris: My apologise.. 11 months old thread here: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/game-capture-picking-up-steam-overlay.32317/

Any ETA for the new update?

fatmatrow: I've tried that work around.. It didn't work for me unfortunately.

It's now been a year and a month later. It saddens me to hear that people are still having this issue. I've even reported how I was able to reproduce it on Windows 7 (see the quote below). When I pointed it out it went ignored, I got a response about the checkmark for overlay option instead of what I was saying the problem was... You can see that here at this post and their replies.

How I reproduced the issue:
0.14.1 this is still an issue.

As I mentioned in a prior post/edit:

Isolated the issue: When you uncheck Capture any fullscreen application it will capture the Steam Overlay regardless of settings. With the above setting checked, the issue does not happen. This can be a bit of a problem if you have other things fullscreen and you don't want to capture them.

-----
I'm able to reproduce this every time with a clean profile. The first run it will be fine but after that the problem occurs consistently.

I also see TheG has reported it on Mantis too. I even submitted one on April 13, 2016.

I'm curious if you've both (@Zash @TheG) done the same as I did by unchecking Capture any fullscreen application.

Back on Windows 7 I could leave Capture any fullscreen application checked and it wouldn't capture the overlays. Problem is I sometimes would have something fullscreen on another monitor and don't want that captured. The whole reason I unchecked it and encountered this problem myself.
