Question / Help Steam Audio not Recording, Skype Audio Is

Hey everyone, I'm hoping ya'll can help me out. Doing some searching around I found this topic that seems to have the same problems as I have.

[bad link removed]

The suggested solution does actually work, but it's not what I would like. I'd like to simply let my mic act naturally without some other software to get it to work. So my question is: Is there some settings or something that I can change so that I don't have to use DFX, either in OBS or in my windows options or anything? I've tried everything I can think of to work around this and so far nothing.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I'm terribly sorry about that, but I removed that link, it appeared to be the incorrect link. Could you relink to the right page if possible? It should be a viewtopic.php or search.php page.

Or could you explain the situation yourself?

I'll do both since I'm not sure what what was up with the link. Just in case it doesn't work again.

Basically, when using OBS it will pick up all of my Windows sounds, sounds from the internet, Skype, independent games like League of Legends, etc. But when I try and record a Steam game I don't recognize it at all. I can hear myself talking and my friend on Skype but sound from the actual game is nonexistent. I'm not sure about Spotify like the other topic mentions since I don't use it, but the rest sounds like my problem.
I'm using Asus Xonar DSX sound card, Windows 8.1, a pair of Sennheiser over-the-ear headphones, and a Bluesnowball mic.

For xonar cards you have to disable XG (or is it GX?) mode in its settings, otherwise it will bypass capture.

And now I see another thread with just that answer . . . Apparently I didn't search well enough.
One more question, and I feel slightly bad about asking this, but how exactly do I go about disabling it? when I click on the Xonar DX Audio Center nothing ever comes up.

Sorry for the double post, but apparently I simply had bad drivers installed for it. Got the proper ones and disabled it and all is good and right with the world. Or at least this. Thanks for the help.
