Starting OBS in windows -- and starting streaming with a selected broadcast

I am fairly new to OBS, so I apologize if this a dumb question.

I have read lots of messages about starting streaming to youtube with the --startstreaming command on startup.

BUT -- when OBS starts it asks me to select the broadcast to stream (to youtube).

is there a parameter I should give the --startstreaming command?

If not -- what am I missing ? how do I tell it which broadcast to use?

I've also been trying to find the answer to this ... --startstreaming seems almost pointless without being able to tell it to just create a broadcast, or give it a parameter as to which one to use. sigh.
 
Now. it's been a year - I currently have the same issue. I'm new to OBS and want to use YT as the provider for my stream, but I can't seem to be able to automate it. Just like the users above - has anyone managed to solve this - and if so, how?
