Question / Help Starting a recording without the infinite loop

I can't figure out any way to keep OBS's infinite loop out of my specific screen-recording session. If I minimize OBS while the Title screen is still selected, I can start recording wiht a shortcut, but then I need a way to perform a Windows demo (ALT+TAB) and then switch directly to the Word document, activity in which will be my primary demonstration. I don't seem to be able to configure hotkeys to do this. Can someone help with this? I am providing adequate information?
Thank you.

To get OBS out of the recording, it needs to run either minimized or on a different monitor. Hotkeys are the way to control a minimized or moved-away OBS. What you mean with "perform a Windows demo (ALT+TAB)" isn't clear. ALT-TAB is used to switch between apps.
OBS is a passive component while recording - usually, you don't need to do anything with it, after you started the recording. It just records what is happening in the sources you configured. If you use display capture, it just records what happens on your desktop.

If you are recording and not streaming, consider to postprocess your video with a video editor. This way, you can conveniently cut out stuff you don't want to show. You don't have to produce your video in one flawless take.
