Question / Help "Start Recording" button non-pressable, user or technical error?

Just for some background info I am a brand new OBS user so cut me some slack if I miss something obvious. As seen below the option to start recording is not available and (regardless of what settings I change) I cannot seem to get it to work.

I forgot to mention but I am primarily using OBS for game recording. Are there any optimal settings for recording gaming?

1) Go to Settings > Broadcast Settings and check "Save to file"
2) Click Browse and navigate to the desired location
3) Give the file a name or enter % to have the files named automatically
4) Click Save
