Bug Report Spotify showing a black region only.

Hi there,

I found one other similar post to this, but no solution had been provided, so I thought I'd post again.

Whenever trying to add Spotify as a Software Capture, regardless whether I capture entire window, inner window, or a sub-region, only a black box appears. I've tried having it on both of my screens, both maximised and minimised to no avail.

At the moment I'm making to with having the song name written to a .txt file remotely and having it shown, but I'd really like to have the spotify now playing (It's neater!).

If anyone knows a fix for this, or anything at all that might help, it would be greatly appreciated!

Redevoi.

I tried this myself, and I was surprised to find that OBS behaves really oddly when getting Window Captured...it looks to me like when you try to Window Capture Spotify, it actually ends up capturing the area directly beneath Spotify in the same size and shape as the Spotify window, and since you probably have "Capture Layered Windows" checked, no other windows or areas of your desktop are displayed, so it's black. Very strange indeed.

I use a program called SnipIt. Google SnipIt, install it, and once it's installed add Text to OBS. Change it to what ever font, size, etc. that you want.

Then, where it says "Use text from file", navigate to your Snipit folder and find Snip.txt.

He said he's already doing something like that. He wants to screen capture the Spotify window itself, though, because it looks better to him.

^ This. I've used SnipIt and SongParser for a long time with Xsplit, but the text output just isn't as nice on OBS - Not to mention the anchor changes with every song name change, so it's never centred :(

Was just wondering if there was some sort of fix for this, but it seems not :(

Hmm.
I actually open Spotify sometimes during my stream to change the songs, and everyone can see it.

Can you not see the window when you open it, or do you want it displayed on your stream at all times?

Use custom text extends.

If you capture it with Monitor capture it seems to work fine.

Actually, that might be the best workaround for now...capture a subregion of the monitor that Spotify is on using Monitor Capture, instead of using Window Capture.
