Hi, I'm having trouble using OBS as when I try to record videos the sound no longer seems to work on anything and so far nothing I've looked at online has given any help. I'd send the relevant log files but they're located on a server that is only rarely connected to the internet.

copy the log from a flashdrive and upload the log, paste the link here.

Yeah, there really isn't much to check though, but I would make sure you didn't accidentally lower the volume on the main OBS window. volume is shown in red. make sure its 80%-100%

Here's the logs starting with when the problem started (Don't know if you'll need any from before that, if you do let me know). I'm not sure if it's related or not, but after I posted that last one it stopped recording and cited sound problems as the cause. The logs relevant to that incident are also attached, they'll be the last three or four.

Yeah if you could unzip them and upload. not that I dont trust you, but, I dont trust whats in zips on the internet. :P

one more thing you can check is to make sure that the audio format in windows recording and playback devices are either 44100Hz or 48000Hz. whatever they are, set OBS to use that format.

There's a couple of 'em. And that's only about less than half.

Did you check the audio format in windows recording and playback devices? its under the advanced tab of each? set OBS to whatever those are set to. This will also help CPU load allowing you to raise the quality of your recordings.

Second, AAC audio format in most cases is better and more compatible, I would change your audio format to AAC since I've never had an issue with this..

Lastly, a few things.
I dont know if you are satisfied with your recording quality, but you could do a few things to help that.

1. remove the monitor capture from your scene. since it is behind hl2.exe, it wont display anyway but OBS will still render it
2. you could set your buffer to 0, CBR unchecked and preset your CPU preset to superfast. you could then experiment with raising your fps to 30 or even 48fps which would both look much better than 24fps. Again, do this after you get your audio working :)

If you need those monitor captures and window captures as well. put them in a different scene respectively.

Thanks for your suggestions. The AAC one seems to have fixed the crash problem; I haven't tested whether it works on the PC audio or how it works on the hl2.exe (my brother is currently having to reinstall all my Steam games at the moment due to an unrelated issue), but I'll get to those and try out the others very soon and I'll let you know how they go. Thanks again!
