Question / Help Sound showing on OBS but no sound on the recording

Hi as the title suggests I'm having an issue with the sounds on my recording I have recently got a new mic but I have changed the settings in my pc to make it my default mic I have looked in the settings on OBS changed the mic in there to the mic I am using but nothing I have checked the settings for the desktop sound as well that's set to default but there is no audio on any of my recordings

Use vlc instead of windows media player or films and tv to check your recordings.

Thanks, that's worked any idea why though?

Because windows media player's media format support is garbage and has been for over 15 years. The films and tv app in windows 10 is just windows media player with a new name.
