Bug Report Sound issue on right speaker only, found a fix (kind of?)

Hi, I am using the Creative XFI Xtreme Gamer sound card.

This is what my sound console looks like:

When ever I am in 5.1 surround sound mode, you can hear my "what you hear" (game sounds, music, etc) on the right speaker only. The microphone is still heard on both left and right.

However, when ever I switch to headphones mode or 2.1 speakers, you can hear the game sounds and music on both speakers, as well as the mic.

I am not sure what is causing it, but just thought I would let you know.

BUMP
I'm using ASUS ROG Xonar Phoebus sound card with 5.1 acoustics system and I have same problem. When the sound source is stereo (iTunes for example), it will be stereo in stream, but in game sounds will be only on the right channel in mono mode.

Could either of you possibly confirm that this is only when the system is set to 5.1?

I can check a bit later today. I have a Creative Card as well. It's just the stream that has the weird audio, right? It doesn't affect what you hear on your system?

Hm, I can't reproduce this.

Can you guys give me more specifics on all your OBS and game settings? Also your windows sound settings. Try to be as thorough as possible so I can try to reproduce things.

Can you specifically list any/all audio related settings? Those in OBS, those in your sound card drivers, your windows audio settings, and your game audio settings. Screenshots of everything would probably be easiest.

Unfortunately there could be many things causing this and I won't have a better idea what is going on until I know more specifically what all your settings are.

Be sure to black out anything that might give away personal information!

Sorry for russian language screenshots, I think you can understand what you need.

http://i.imgur.com/EBtLw.jpg windows settings (it's just same as in the driver)
all tweaks disabled except for Flex Bass (for subwoofer while listening stereo music, like radio)

both of games just default for surround 5.1 systems

Seems like OB just mixing surround channels on front right channel for stream.

Ok, I was trying with Starcraft 2 so maybe that's why it wasn't being an issue for me. I'll try some with DotA in a bit and see if I can reproduce.

Oh, one more thing to check. Right click the speaker icon in the System Tray and pull up Playback devices select your default speaker device and press "Configure" to make sure it's set to the same speaker setup as in your sound card drivers.

edit: Definitely was able to reproduce this. In my earlier tests, I had forgotten that I disabled center and rear speakers for 5.1 ages ago for some debugging somewhere.

It doesn't completely cut out the left channel, but it seems like the levels are definitely way off between left and right channels, with the right being significantly louder.

Yeah, see my previous post. I was able to reproduce as well, so something definitely going screwy.

edit: I don't have time today, but maybe tomorrow I will test and see if it does the same thing on my onboard sound card. If you two would also try to see if you get the same issue with your motherboard sound, that would be awesome and give more data.

Yep, I am aware now.. I will have to do some 5.1 testing and check the code out. Thought my 5.1 downmix code was correct.
