Question / Help Sound is gone when moving recording to iMovie

Alright, so I have the raw video of the footage I recorded with OBS, but I want to edit it, so I transfered it to my MAC via an external hard drive to edit it in iMovie. However, the video file itself has sound and everything, but when it's imported into iMovie, all audio is gone. I've tried importing other files, and they seem to work perfectly. It's only the ones I've recorded myself with OBS that has this problem. Help?

Usually means lack of codecs. Does it play with other video players?

Yea, that's what I meant. If it works fine with other programs, then the most likely cause is simply a lack of required codec. h264 can still have some issues with programs, even despite its increased popularity.

Get the codecs for it I suppose. I unfortunately don't know anything about iMovie. You're on your own from there sadly.

I'm sorry, I'm not very good at technical terms. What exactly is a codec, and how do I get it?

A codec in this case is a module that allows you to decode a specific type of video/audio encoding.

I unfortunately don't know how to get it for mac or imovie. I'm hoping that there may be some other users who might be able to give you a suggestion for this.
