Sound input occasionally stops when transitioning scenes.

We using OBS to stream church services. We have 3 cameras and an input from our soundboard going through a multiport adaptor and plugging into the USB port on our laptop. The problem I am about to describe only started happening about a month ago. Occasionally, when I transition from one scene to another, the activity in the audio mixer stops entirely. This does NOT happen every time I make a transition, but when it does, it is VERY disruptive to the stream, obviously. I have to disconnect the multiport input from the laptop and plug it back in again. When I do that, the sound kicks on once again. But I then have to deactivate and activate each of the 3 cameras to bring them to life once again. The problem is we cannot intentionally recreate the disconnect, so it is difficult to pinpoint where the problem is. SInce it is a recent problem, could it be related to the latest upgrade to OBS softwar? We would appreciate any help we can get to resolve this issue.

Can you connect the audio directly to the PC?
My theory is that along your signal chain, the USB is overloaded and causes the error, since you can't reproduce the issue, that is the only reason I can think of.
