So I have been toying around trying to get the sound to work for a day now and it's just not working. When I get it to work, something else breaks. When I first downloaded OBS both the in game sound was captured and the external sound was captured (ie Pandora, LoL, ect for in game and my voice for external).
I originally wanted to be able to mute myself so I tried to set that up but it never actually muted so I ended up disabling the microphone (I am using the built in microphone on my laptop) so I could just figure out the in game mic.
Once I figured out the in game sound/which worked fine, I tried to activate my microphone again, which didn't work even when I set it back to default. I have no idea what I did but now the in game sound does not work (set as default) and only the external mic works and the only way to capture music or in game sounds is for my laptops microphone to capture the sound, which ends up with poor sound quality. I have run the program both normally and as administrator and nothing seems to work.
Also whenever I am running OBS, both mic symbols are at full, but the first one never shows any activity, while the second one always is showing that it is capturing sound.
Tldr:
How do I get OBS to capture in game sounds again?
How do I mute myself when I no longer want to talk?
Why did it mess up//how do I prevent this happening again?
Is it possible to have Skype open but not have the sound captured by OBS, but also still be able to talk/hear my friends?
Here are what my Audio settings are:
Also sorry if this is confusing, I don't really know programming language and tried my best to explain. If you need more details of pictures, let me know. I really want to start streaming and recording videos but am lost on this sound issue at the moment.
Edit:
Ok, so now the sound works fine through the in game capturing microphone, but no longer captures my voice. I did not do a thing, I just clicked start streaming. I didn't even close the program. So I have absolutely no idea whats going on or how to fix it.
Also here's a photo of my sound - the mic is not being recorded, but the other sound is.
