Sound drops intermittently

Sound just drops to zero intermittently, particularly when just background music input with no voice.

My input to OBS is from a Roland VR-1HD mixer connected via USB 3.0 cable. The Roland output to headphones is constant, sound doesn’t drop at all, but in OBS can see the sound levels fall and remain at zero for a few seconds before kicking in again. This happens even before starting to record or stream.

Does anyone have any ideas???

Please post a link to a clean log. You can also use the analyze button (when you upload the log as described below) to troubleshoot common issues.
To make a clean log file, please follow these steps:

1) Restart OBS.
2) Start your stream/recording for about 30 seconds. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
3) Stop your stream/recording.
4) Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Send that link via this troubleshooting tool or whichever support chat you are using.

ok, start taking a look at the analizer which gives you good hints on fixing common problems.

Some common issues with audio falls on the ffmpg aac ecoder, like the Max Audio Buffering you can see on the analizer, and are resolved using:

Lets see if this is the case too.

PC stands for Personal Computer, which includes all the personal computers. Now, a personal computer could use different operating systems. The most commons are Windows, a few distros of Linux (even though linux is just the kernel), and macOS
The guide states cleary it's for WINDOWS, not any of the Apple products.
You are not excused because you didn't even read the title of the guide. Now be a good boy and read the thing.

Ok but most people colloquially, rightly or wrongly, would use PC for a windows device and Mac for IOS. ‍♂️
Anyway, I have ITunes downloaded on my Windows PC but when I open OBS and look at the log it says
“CoreAudio AAC encoder not installed on the system or couldn’t be loaded”
Yet further down the log, under “Loaded modules” shows “coreaudio-encoder.dll”

Log file, please.
I also have installed in the past iTunes but the coreaudio codec wasn't present, no idea why. So I just followed the guide and installed as described in the guide the part which have the codec and that's was all I needed to do.
