Bug Report Some more issues with OBS. (Version 0.457a)

I'm using the near identical settings as I do on Xsplit and my stream looks horrible. I'm using the OBS software capture that is built in. I normally use VH SCR CAP, but for some reason OBS doesn't seem to want to recognize it in the drop down box for "Add Video Software Capture" option.

Youtube video of what my stream looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ0hoF3oy4U

And here is the log. Maybe it's something to do with my settings. I don't know. I have 40 download and 5 upload. I'm running 2000 bitrate and 2000 buffer. On [other apps] I use 3500 bitrate and 3600 buffer and have no issues. I really like this program, when it works the stream quality is awesome. Hopefully I can get my issues sorted out.

Is there a reason you're using VH SCR Cap? OBS Software Capture is the exact same thing, but will run better since it's from the app.

No no, this is not your fault, this is a bug at the moment. I'm trying to fix it currently. Come on chat some time if possible to talk about it with me directly, I need people getting this issue to help me fix it if you have time

The reason I use VH SCR CAP is because I like that I can set the input as 1600x900 and then set the output as 1280x720 or whatever else resolution I want. With the OBS software capture, I can't do that. I've spent about an hour trying to figure out how to do it with the OBS software capture, just can't figure it out.

Nevermind, I think I fixed the problem in 0.458a in the test build section. Please try it out.

It depends what capture you're using. Since it appears you're using Monitor Capture, you can just set your Base Resolution to 1600x900 and Downscale to 1280x720 for the output.

The only options downscale has are... 1600x900 - 1066x600 - 800x450 - 710x400 - 532x300

Does your stream still look awful like it did before? That memory leak is one that's not a big concern, Jim has just had some trouble pinning it down.

A workaround to get 720p: In Video settings, put a custom resolution at 1920x1080, and then use the 1.5 downscale.

I did a 30 minute stream session to test it. From watching some of the video, it looks pretty good. I'm not even partnered on Twitch.TV and my stream looks just as good as someone who is partnered and has the 720p+ option. This is why I love OBS.

As for the workaround.. Does it matter that I only have a 1600x900 monitor?

Twitch doesn't restrict any resolutions. You can stream 720p or 1080p no problem. Twitch only limits multiple resolutions to partners. (So allowing people to choose 360p if you're streaming 720p for example)

0.458a should have fixed most of the problems, and hopefully I got rid of the memory leak in 0.460a
