Question / Help Some game performance suffering with OBS?

Hi there.
Currently when I'm streaming some games I'm having issues. The game will run normally alone and then once I hit the stream button, some of these games become awfully laggy. Is there anything I can do to optimise the settings the allow the two applications to run smoother together?

My current set up is
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti 2GB
Gigabyte 880-GM-USB3 Motherboard
8 GB RAM
AMD FX 4100 Black Edition Quad core 3.6 ghz CPU. (I'm aware it sucks but it's what I'm stuck with for now)

Also I forgot to add on connection speeds.

30mb/s download speed.
5.89mb/s upload speed.

and running Windows 8.1.
