Question / Help [SOLVED] Is anyone using a camera with a USB extension cord?

SOLVED with a workaround -- Decided to install a different INF by manually updating the driver software within Device Manager. Although the camera would still not display within my 'Microsoft LifeCam' program, I was able to get it detected in OBS at certain resolutions.

Looking for a model that is definitely going to work with a USB extension cord. Does anyone have a scenario like this that can give me a model that they know will work?

How long of an extension cord? USB only works over a limited range without a repeater of some sort.

32ft active extension cord. I've tested another camera that works, but won't work within OBS. Hoping to run across someone using a similar cable with a known working camera that I can purchase.

I mean, I'm not really sure what to say here. What kind of camera is it? Does it only have 32bit drivers? If so, you may need to be using the 32bit version of OBS. Does it work without the extension cord? The extension cord shouldn't be a factor in this equation at all...

Microsoft LiveCam Studio.

I've got another post trying to troubleshoot that model itself, I was more hoping to run into another user that has a differnet model camera that they can confirm does work using a cable like this. I'm only using the LifeCam to test at the moment, but ultimately I'd like to buy a secondary webcam for this room and keep my LifeCam in the other room. Going to start a bit of troubleshooting with the LifeCam and OBS right now.

Yeah, first make sure you can get it working with OBS normally, but like I said the USB extension cord should definitely not be the issue, here.

No dice. Still working in the simple webcamviewer program I downloaded. Is there any type of debugging in OBS? Can I see why I might be getting a black screen? Tried RGB and YUY2 output, as well as 15fps and 30fps.

Ah, ok. Glad you were able to figure it out. I suspected it was some sort of driver thing, but didn't really know what else to suggest.
