Ok, so I want the best stream quality I can have with the rig I have. I have a laptop, but has pretty good specs for streaming.

Note: I will be streaming using an HD PVR2 and my xbox one console.

Ok, I have an i7 5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz for a processor. 8gb of ram. a 10mbs upload speed.
Graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 M275 & the Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500.

I figure I should be able to get a decent stream quality, right?

Oh, I'm also wanting to use a rocketfish HD webcam, for a mic and cam.

any help would be awesome :)

If you are a non-partnered Twitch streamer, 720p@30fps, 2000kbps is the 'golden point' and recommended maximum.
2000kbps is the point where a majority of Twitch viewers will be able to watch you without buffering, and 720p@30 is the optimal tradeoff point between resolution and smoothness, while working within that realistic bitrate limitation.

Also, be aware that the HDPVR2 is not supported in OBS Classic, as it is not a standards-compliant device; you'll have to window or game capture their software. OBS-MP has added workarounds to make it work natively, but at present the MP branch is missing major features.

Thanks for your help. Well I used the recommendations from those links provided. I still feel my stream is choppy (because it is when I view it in obs) I use the screen capture part, I dropped it from 60 fps to 30 fps. But I feel like my pc should be able to handle 60 fps. It still says "warning high cpu usage" when i am streaming, and I'm not entirely sure why. Is it because I'm also using a webcam? Because my settings are based off of the above recommendations.

Unless there's an OBS1 feature you absolutely must have, you should be using OBS-MP for that. Poor performance is a side effect of OBS1 not being able to use the HDPVR as a video capture device.

ah ok. I didn't even know what I downloaded. I'm a moron when it comes to these types of things. I'm sorry.

I'll d/l the mp version and see if that helps. Thanks :)

edit: Ok, so I have downloaded the obs-mp version, but it's a bit different. how do I capture my hd-pvr in it? I need a new walk-through on how to set it up. :(
