Question / Help So, I have multiple issues with OBS tonight.

So I'm quite new to the whole streaming scene, but tonight I ran into a huge problem. Normally I would launch a stream and play a game or two for a friend, but tonight the stream didn't even start when I attempted to start it. After playing with the start stream button for about 20 minutes, it would finally launch but would freeze for long periods of time every couple of minutes.

I have not fiddled with any settings except changing the bitrate from the default 1000 to 2000 based on input from another streamer. After attempting to fix things manually for about 2 hours, I gave up and came to these forums for assistance. Posted below are my logs and speedtest results. If anyone has any idea on what I can do to fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone can give me optimization advice (Assuming the log actually shows off my hardware), that would also be fantastic! :D

http://imgur.com/UQTUrIw <--- Stream's been live for 3 minutes, no amount of refreshing or waiting on hitbox would end the loading. Friends reported infinite loading as well.

Speedtest results.

Yep, posted correctly. Just can take a bit for someone to check the thread.
Short version, you can't stream at 1080p. Your CPU isn't powerful enough (i5s run out of gas after 720@30) and as you're a non-partnered streamer, 3000kbps is WAY too much. Not surprised that it's having problems, really.

Settings->Video, then set the Resolution Downscale to 1280x720. Then set your bitrate (no custom buffer!) to 2000kbps.

720p@30fps, 2000kbps, x264 Veryfast is the 'golden point' for non-partnered streamers on Twitch.

A MUCH bigger problem though is that you're using Monitor Capture under Windows 7. It's VERY BAD to do that. 8 and up actually work right, but MS messed things up on 7 severely.
Turn Aero ON. It actually makes OBS run significantly faster and smoother. Use a Window or Game Capture for your game(s); they run quick, and give you control over what goes out on your stream (meaning no accidental flashes of personal data or "personal data" on stream).
If you actually NEED monitor capture for something, use a Game Capture of the DWM process. This will cap your primary monitor, and actually has decent performance instead of the crappitude that MonCap does under 7.

Short version, overworking your CPU, too much bitrate, using a terribad capture method, and Aero off. Easy fixes. :)

Many thanks! I shall changes all these settings immediately.

I had no idea what settings to go with, so I followed guides and apparently things got screwed.. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my issues and offering advice!

Especially with the monitor capture thing though. I do personal streams to friends so I tend to show them things as I alt tab as well while we wait for multiplayer downtimes..
