Question / Help Skyrim and Steam Overlay

So in most games the steam overlay won't just show up because it is not selected as a source. In Skyrim, this is not the case. Of course, someone was talking to me about some really personal stuff when I started the stream, and I just assumed the overlay wouldn't show up. We realized a couple minutes later it did. Is there some way to exclude the steam overlay from appearing in the Stream when I'm streaming Skyrim?

It can't be guaranteed not to show up, steam overlay is sort of a hook sort of like game capture. It's difficult to really control the hook priority without increasing the risk of crashing the game due to the nature of function hooks.
