I will take lengths to detail the issue, as it is very important to me that this is resolved, and that I understand what error was present if it was indeed on my end.
Before we continue, please understand I wish to receive two answers:
1. Why OBS became suddenly unusable to record. What caused this specifically, and will it happen again?
2. What error I (or the program) have made, as well as how to fix and avoid it in the future.
In order to detail the usage of this program for me, I have two examples I would appreciate if you take a quick look at.
This video is one I recorded solely for displaying the problem, as well as grabbing a log that is representative. Especially after 40 seconds, I start to demonstrate the most confusing part of the issue.
In the video, you see extreme lag through out the recording, but for some reason, when I tab out or select another screen so the recorded screen is not in the foreground, the recorded screen is suddenly being recorded flawlessly!
You can see this in the video quite clearly especially at the end when the character is dancing. At points where it is unwatchable due to lag, that is when I am playing the game and have it in the foreground. Then I tab over to any other screen and all of a sudden the recording is flawless!
Consider this issue carefully, as I assume it is a root of the issue, if not the output of the cause.
The second video I will show is a demonstration of myself using OBS to record a live video with flawless results.
In this demonstration, you see this was nearly a year ago, but I suffered no issue whatsoever (besides poor quality webcam! ;)
This is linked to help establish the point, that at some point, something massive changed. I can not pinpoint just what it is, as I rarely use this program for recording World of Warcraft.
My approximation is that I have either accidentally tampered with some settings, or a patch has broken the functionally through some specific combination to myself, thus leaving most of the community unaware.
As mentioned, I would love an answer to both my questions, and hope we can agree this is certainly not a hardware issue.
In closing, I would like to point out that I am a HUGE fan of this project and have been since I heard about it. The reason I have taken the time to explain this issue in detail is because I wish for it to succeed and want to continue using the program to record short "live" videos. But unfortunately, in the current state, it is simply unusable.
