Question / Help Settings for recording on a low-end laptop without lag issues

I am having some issues with when I recorded a game. The first half of the video was fine, no issues were found. But when I got into the second half, things started lagging. And later on, major lag/frame freezes kicked in. This is the second time that I recorded on the same game. It was 100% fine the first recording. So I wonder what happened? If possible, can someone tell me a recommended set of setting to prevent this again?
