So, I made a post a while back about me needing 1080p60fps recording settings. A couple people responded with helpful advice. I actually thought I solved the problem. But, now its lagging and dropping frames on the recording again. I am going to include a log of a round of Overwatch, one of the games I hope to record. I hope you can guys can help me, since this is my second time having this problem that I cant record 1080p60fps without lagging, even though I have a decent PC.

PC SPECS:
Nvidia GTX GEFORCE 960 2GB
INTEL CORE I5 4690K clocked at 3.50 GHZ
8GB RAM

I'm pretty sure thats all you need in terms of specs.

1. Make sure that you have a dual channel memory setup.
2. That CPU isn't bad, but if your HDD can't keep up with the recording bandwidth, you'll still have issues.
3. If you're just recording, use NVENC. If you're trying to stream and record at high quality, use OBS Studio, NVENC on the recording and x264 (960x540) on the streaming side.

Ok, I will look up how to setup dual channel memory in a couple minutes. What settings should I use for NVENC, since I will only be recording for now.

Just looked up how to setup dual channel memory. I am super confused on what it is and how to set it up, is there a way to work around this, or is this completely necessary? I am sure I could do it if you explained to me how. Settings for NVENC still needed.

You have a lot of duplicate frames in that log file indicating an overloaded GPU. Running a game without vertical sync or a frame rate limiter will frequently cause performance issues with OBS because your GPU will be maxed out. Enable vsync or set a reasonable frame rate limit that your GPU can handle without hitting 100% usage. If that's not enough you may also need to turn down some of the video quality options in the game.

I can't believe it was as simple as turning down my game settings. Thank you so much. I thought it was some CPU or OBS issue but I guess it was just a bit too much running Overwatch at Ultra and recording at the same time. I will make sure to record using VSYNC and High settings when recording Overwatch now, and i'll make sure to play around with the game settings if this issue may happen again. Thanks to you Sapiens!
