Question / Help Setting up a dual PC stream

I just built a new computer for playing games and plan on repurposing my (not so) old PC to stream and have a few questions while I wait for the arrival of my capture card (C985) and cables I bought that I think will work. I know everyone has a different streaming setup and people get the audio to the second machine in a myriad of different ways so hopefully someone can perhaps put some of my concerns to rest.

I've done a lot of research and pretty much everyone I've seen either uses a mixer or Virtual Audio Cable equivalent. I use a FiiO E9K/E17 headphone amp/DAC combo for audio on my gaming PC, and have an AT2035 with a Line6 UX2 for my microphone. The E9K has a line level output which I was planning on going RCA->1/8" to the line-in on the streaming PC so it can hear what I hear. Similarly, a dual PC setup guide I read gave me the idea to connect the UX2 to the streaming PC, and then use a 1/4" to 1/8" cable to connect the monitoring headphone jack to the mic-in on my gaming PC for Teamspeak/in-game voice.

So I guess my main question is, will this work? I also have a 144Hz monitor and read about problems people have with outputting both 1080p60/1080p144 to the capture card and monitor, respectively. Some of those solutions involved projecting to another monitor and capturing that? Finally, on switching scenes, I don't have a lot of experience with OBS past streaming a couple of times and realizing that I'm not a fan of performance loss in FPS games, but how do you switch scenes while playing? I've read that people use mouse without borders, USB numpads bound to hotkeys connected to the streaming PC, all kinds of methods. Since I assume you can't use an automatic scene switcher while using a capture card since the capture card is receiving everything on that monitor and OBS can't see individual windows?

I have a lot of questions for someone who doesn't even have the capture card in the machine yet and this turned into more of a train of thought spilling into text but hopefully someone can put my mind at ease, thanks for reading.
